LankaData Network has announced the free public availability of a comprehensive Sri Lankan legal dataset through a collaboration with LankaLaw, marking a significant step toward widening access to legal information in the country. Through this initiative, core sources of law—including Acts of Parliament and Ordinances from independence to the present, consolidated statutes, the Constitution, and key legislative texts—are now openly accessible alongside an extensive body of case law such as Sri Lanka Law Reports, New Law Reports, Supreme Court and Court of Appeal judgments, and historical decisions with legal digests. The shared dataset also includes legal publications, case summaries, and international treaties relevant to Sri Lanka’s legal framework, all organized within a structured, searchable digital repository. The collaboration aims to support lawyers, students, researchers, and the general public by removing access barriers to authoritative legal materials, strengthening legal literacy, transparency, and research capacity across Sri Lanka’s legal and academic communities.
